Overview
Narrated mode runs an in-person game without a human moderator. Everyone at the table joins from their own phone by scanning a QR code. When night falls, the app narrates out loud: it wakes each role in turn, collects each action silently on that player's phone, and announces the outcome in the morning.
The host is a player too. In moderator mode one person runs the night and sits out of the game; in narrated mode the whole group plays - including whoever created the game.
Hear the narrator
The night is spoken with a real voice, so all eyes stay closed until a role is called. A few lines from the game:
On your phone
When your role is called, your phone wakes up and shows your choices - pick a target and the narrator moves on. Everyone else's phone stays on a sleeping screen, so nothing on the table gives you away.
Your phone also gives a light buzz when it's your turn, so you can keep your eyes shut and still catch your wake-up.
Narrated or Moderator?
Both modes are for playing in the same room, with the same roles and rules. Pick by what your group needs:
Narrated mode
- Nobody sits out - the host plays too
- The app calls each role out loud in turn
- Everyone acts secretly on their own phone
- Needs internet and a phone per player
Moderator mode
- One person moderates and sits out
- The moderator calls the roles out loud
- One phone runs the whole game
- No internet needed

How to start
1
Create the game
In the app, tap “Moderator” and choose “The app narrates”. Add the roles you want to the pool.
2
Everyone joins
Players scan the QR code on your screen (or tap the share link) and take a seat with their name.
3
Check your role
Roles are dealt secretly to each phone. Read yours, keep it close, and don't let anyone peek.
4
Close your eyes
The narrator takes over: it runs the night, wakes each role, and announces the dawn. You just play.
Narrated mode is in beta
It's the newest way to play, and we're still tuning it. If a line sounds off or something breaks, tell us on Discord
Ready to hand over the narration?
Same roles, same wake order, same rules as any in-person game - the narrator just does the talking.
